Air Transportation
Located 10 minutes north of downtown, the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport connects the area with more than 300 cities around the world. Commercial carriers include American Eagle, Continental, Delta, and Northwest Airlines. Nonstop service is available to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Memphis, Orlando and Washington, D.C.

Bus Service

Capital Area Transit System (CATS) provides modern urban transportation throughout Baton Rouge, including service to Southern University, BRCC, and Louisiana State University, with affordable fares and an updated fleet of buses. Greyhound Bus Lines offers passenger and cargo service throughout the United States.  The terminal is located in the downtown area on Florida Boulevard.  For information, call 1-800-231-2222.

Major Highways
East/west: Interstate 10 (east to New Orleans and west to Lafayette), Interstate 12 (east to Hammond), U.S. Hwy. 190.

North/south: Interstate 110 (downtown to Southern University and airport), U.S. Hwy. 61 (Airline Highway), La. Hwy. 1.

Major Streets and Arteries
East/west: Florida Boulevard and Government Street both cross the middle of the city from the riverfront to the Airline Highway area.  Florida continues on to Sherwood Forest Boulevard and Denham Springs.  Perkins Road slants across South Baton Rouge from the Garden District all the way to I-10.

North/south: Nicholson Drive runs from near the I-10 bridge to LSU and the Gardere area.  Plank Road and Scenic Highway run from Mid City to North Baton Rouge.  Lee/College Drive and Staring/Essen Lane are major surface streets crossing the I-10/I-12 corridor.

Ferries
St. Francisville / New Roads: Runs 7 days a week from 5:00am to 9:00pm.  St. Francisville side runs at 00 and 30 on hour; New Roads side runs at 15 and 45 on hour.

Plaquemine: Runs 7 days a week from 5:00am to 9:00pm.  Plaquemine side runs at 00 and 30 on hour; Sunshine side runs at 15 and 45 on hour.
