Who We Are

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) is a non-profit, investor-driven organization with over 1,500 member businesses, civic organizations, education institutions, and individuals. Its mission is to lead economic development in the nine-parish Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

BRAC has a history of being a catalyst for growth and development for the community. Since 1916, the organization has been at the forefront of many milestones for our region including the development of the Port of Greater Baton Rouge and the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, the formation of the Louisiana Business and Technology Center, and public school desegregation. More recently, the region's business leadership has used BRAC as a catalyst to initiate multiple economic development projects that could have a lasting impact on our community. From recruiting and retaining business to improving our region's public schools, BRAC has become a vocal advocate for positive change.

BRAC fulfills its mission of leading economic development in the Baton Rouge area in several ways:

  • Business retention initiatives, including expansion consultations
  • Business recruitment activities, such as targeted marketing
  • Maintaining a robust business intelligence database
  • Taking public positions on issues that affect the business community
  • Providing vision and seed funding for education initiatives
  • Remaining committed to measurable results
