
Editor: Baton Rouge should jump on Google opportunity

Google's offer of ultra-fast Internet service free of charge to several U.S. cities is one that Baton Rouge should aggressively pursue, says Business Report Executive Editor JR Ball. Mayor Kip Holden and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber should rally around the effort, just like they rallied around a bond issue that was defeated by voters last year. "There are many who will say Google selecting Baton Rouge is a long-shot. So, too, was getting the tax-leery voters of this parish to pass a nearly $1 billion tax-bond-and-spend package.
