FUTUREPAC

FuturePAC is the Baton Rouge Area Chamber's political action committee. FuturePAC's mission is to financially support issues and candidates that promote economic development in the Baton Rouge area and improve the business climate of the region. FuturePAC primarily focuses on the following types of candidate elections:

  • statewide elected officials
  • state representatives and senators, both regional and statewide leadership
  • parish president*
  • parish council seats*
  • public school board seats*
  • infrastructure and other issues elections

*East Baton Rouge Parish only, other parishes if requested by parish business leaders

It is a "Big PAC", which means that it may contribute twice the normal limit to highly qualified candidates in the Capital Region. In order to maintain "Big PAC" status, it needs to secure 250 members by December 31st of each year.

Types of Support

FuturePAC may support a candidate in one or more ways:

  • contributing to the candidate's campaign fund
  • publicizing a FuturePAC's endorsement
  • providing advice on campaign organization and strategy

  • 2006: East Baton Rouge school board, public service commission candidate endorsements; ballot propositions
  • 2007: Blueprint Louisiana; Governor Jindal transition; EBR mayor-president; St. Helena Parish School System tax proposal; BESE board endorsements
  • 2008: legislative races; EBR metro council candidates; EBR bond election
  • 2009: legislative races; EBR bond election
  • 2010: legislative race; EBR school board; lieutenant governor's race 
  • 2011: legislative races; BESE board endorsements; lieutenant governor’s race
  • 2012: EBR mayor-president; EBR metro council candidates; local school board term limits; West Feliciana economic development tax renewal
