Run Dates for A Christmas Carol: December 8-17, 2017.

Auditions for our 7th annual holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol, and our 2nd annual YAP fundraiser, Gift of the Magi are October 7-8, 2017. AUDITIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! To sign up for auditions, please call the Box Office at 225-924-6496. If you are unable to make these auditions, but are still interested in auditioning, please call the box office. They will give you more instructions on what to do. DO NOT contact the directors or stage management. Thank you!

Youth auditions are for those 18 and under, who will be able to be considered for both A Christmas Carol and Gift of the Magi, and will be Saturday, October 7th from 1:00pm-5:00pm. Youth will need to be prepared to cold read a scene and sing a Christmas carol that they’re taught at auditions. Auditioners could possibly be asked to return on Sunday to read other scenes.

Adult auditions are October 8th, everyone will be asked to be there at 3:00pm. Be prepared to read cold scenes. If you are interested in being in the Adult Chorus please be prepared to sing an acapella Christmas Carol, of your choosing, at auditions.

Scripts will be available for checkout at the Box Office ($20 cash refundable deposit). Please call the box office before coming to pick up a script so they can have one prepared for you.

CAST NEEDS FOR A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Ebenezer Scrooge – man with a bitter, cruel and greedy countenance, he has a quick wit but he is not ready to change his ways.

Bob Cratchit- A capable, yet poor worker for Scrooge. He is a family man and is afraid for his position.

Jacob Marley – An older than Scrooge Dead man, now a ghost. He is in painful remorse, wishing he had changed while still alive. He honestly wishes to help his living partner.

Fred- Scrooge’s nephew. Fred is full of life, optimistic and touched with the spirit of the season. He has great emotional endurance.

The Ghost of Christmas Past – Pragmatic and with the dry humor of knowing the human condition.

The Ghost of Christmas Present – A ghost with the joyful spirit of Christmas, loud and fun, but knows the pains that we forget this day as well.

The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come- The Dark ghost that will show you what path you are on. While this character never opens his mouth, his movements speak volumes.

Scrooge as a Young Man- Meets Belle at the Fezziwig party, awkward and shy.

Mr. Topper (20s)- Jovial friend of Fred’s.

Old Joe (over 40)- Crook, in charge of Char Women.

Belle – Beautiful, young, and in love. She is smitten with Scrooge. However, the years make her practical.

Mrs. Cratchit- A strong woman, devoted to her husband but also well aware of his capabilities and Scrooge’s failure to see those strengths.

Martha- Eldest Cratchit daughter. Possible doubling: Fezziwig daughter, Laundress.

Julia- (20s-early 30s) Fred’s wife.

Caroline & Husband- (20’s) Poor couple indebted to Scrooge.

Mr. & Mrs. Fezziwig (over 40) Jovial and family love, Scrooge’s mentor.

Fan- (early 20’s) Scrooge’s older sister.

Boy –(8ish) The “boy” character is an echo of Scrooge in his youth, a shadow of the poor in London in the 1840’s. The “Boy” has to be a strong actor that can also sing. Come prepared to sing “The First Noel”

Scrooge as a Boy (8-14) (youth- preteen)

Tiny Tim (6ish looking)- A small boy, frail of body with a strong heart.

Cratchit Children: Peter (12-16), Gillian (6-10), Miranda (8-12), Belinda (10-12)

CAST NEEDS FOR GIFT OF THE MAGI

Jim (15-18) a tenor male in 1905. He is poor, but happy and deeply in love with his wife, Della.

Della (15-18) a soprano female in 1905. She is poor, but happy and deeply in love with her husband, Jim. Known for her long beautiful hair, can be wigged if needed.

Reindeer Review Chorus: 8 kids ages 7-18 to perform various Christmas carols in a staged opening performance before Gift of the Magi.
